Grape

Grape

Vitis vinifera hybrids

Description

For eating, try the seedless, self-fruitful, red grape ‘Flame’ where summers are hot or ‘Perlette’ for mild summer regions, but for wine cultivars, consider ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ (in warm summers) or ‘Chardonnay’ (where summers are cool). Because most grape varieties extend 8 ft.-plus and spread, provide a sturdy support for the vines such as a pergola, pillar, or espalier against a fence. All parts of Vitis plants are not toxic to humans, but do not feed grapes or raisins to dogs and cats
